Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6

SCIENTIFIC NAME

Pyridoxine

About

Vitamin B6 or pyridoxine is a water-soluble vitamin found naturally in many foods, as well as added to foods and supplements. Pyridoxal 5' phosphate (PLP) is the active coenzyme form and most common measure of B6 blood levels in the body. Vitamin B6 helps to make new red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body and keep the immune system strong.

Dosage & Duration

In most adults, the typical dose is 2.5-25 mg daily for three weeks then 1.5-2.5 mg per day thereafter.

Benefits

  • Vitamin B6 supports moisturized, supple skin, and full lips. Insufficient amounts of B6 can result in dry, cracking skin, and chapped lips.

  • Vitamin B6 helps stop acne from the start caused by hormonal fluctuations and helps make your skin resistant to the effects of testosterone.

  • Vitamin B6 helps your skin and body heal quickly and smoothly (less scarring) by aiding in the synthesis of RNA and DNA, the building blocks and blueprints of the body.

  • Vitamin B6 helps to support healthy, shiny hair by boosting its growth when used as a daily supplement.
