The Necessity of Consuming Energy Giving Nutrients

What does eating serve? Due to hunger or boredom, most people get their energy from food. Our bodies can only be sustained by the food and beverages we consume.

It is impossible for the human body to function without the numerous substances found in food, known as nutrients. For this reason, we must eat and consume the nutrients that provide us with energy and become the building blocks of our bodies to live.

All energy comes from food. Therefore, food provides the body with all of its needs. All of these activities require us to refuel our reserves of energy. Many factors affecting food and nutrition.

Let's learn the importance of energy giving nutrients & the role of nutrition in maintaining health.

Energy Giving Nutrients

All organs and bones in the body indeed contain the same nutrient components as muscles, organs, and connective tissue. Eating gives us all the energy we require to function correctly. For this reason, we must eat and consume the nutrients that provide us with energy and become the building blocks of our bodies to live.

Biological activity depends on a wide range of compounds found in food. These are known as "nutrients or energy giving nutrients" They are broken down into proteins, fats, carbohydrates (sugars, dietary fiber),vitamins, and minerals. They are responsible for several vital functions. The critical function of energy is giving nutrients for-

· Bone, blood, teeth, and muscle are all part of the human anatomy

· Making a living by producing electricity (power and heat)

· Efficiently sustaining one's health and vitality

All organs, bones, and muscles have the same nutrient components. All the energy we need to function appropriately is provided by eating. To live, we must eat the nutrients that give us energy and build our bodies.

Factors Affecting Food And Nutrition

We eat because we are hungry, but what we eat isn't determined solely by our physiological or nutritional needs. The followingfactors affecting food and nutrition are-

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)

Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the rate at which the body burns calories at rest, regardless of weight or height. BMR strongly influences diet and nutrition.

Weight & Age - Infancy has a higher energy need per kg of body weight than adults due to a higher BMR during growth. Basal metabolism peaks between ages 1-2. There is a gradual decline from 2 to 5 years old, with a faster decline until adulthood.

Gender - In comparison to adolescent girls and adult women, males have a BMR due to differences in body composition, not a direct effect of gender. Thus, males' energy needs are greater than those of females because they have more muscles and glandular tissues that are more active, while females have more fat that is less active.

Climate & Environment - As far as climate is concerned, it is known that the BMR is lower in the tropics than in temperate regions. Thus, when the temperature drops, the cost of doing work increases.

Body Size - A more extensive body has more muscles and glandular tissue to maintain, requiring higher energy allowances. BMR is the rate at which the body burns calories at rest, regardless of weight or height. ·

Endocrine Glands - If the thyroid gland is overactive (hyperthyroidism), BMR will rise. The BMR decreases if the thyroid gland activity decreases (hypothyroidism).

Condition (or Status) of health - BMR of an individual can be negatively impacted by fever and a lack of proper nutrition. Illnesses that cause an increase in body temperature also significantly boost basal heat production, which raises the BMR and results in higher energy demand.

Changes in physiology - During pregnancy and lactation, the body needs more energy because the BMR is higher. This extra energy is needed to support the growth of the fetus and the mother's tissues during pregnancy, and it is needed to make milk during lactation.

Lifestyle And Food Habits

Effect of food - Digesting, absorbing, and using food requires work. This is known as the "specific dynamic action" of food because of the increased heat production resulting from food consumption. Food's dynamic action accounts for about 10% of energy needs based on mixed diets. Protein alone boosts metabolism by 30%.

Sleep - Sleep lowers the BMR by about 10%, depending on how many hours you sleep and how you sleep (restless or peaceful).

Physical Activity - The type and duration determine the energy required for a given physical activity. For example, a person who works in a sedentary position such as bookkeeping or typing requires less energy than someone who works in a physically demanding nursing, homemaking, or gardening.

Why Is Nutrition Important

Do you ever wonder why is nutrition important & what exactly is therole of nutrition in maintaining health?? Nutrition is key to health and growth. A person's overall health and ability to mature depend heavily on their diet.

Ahealthy, nutritious diet is crucial to your energy levels as regular exercise, drinking plenty of water, and getting enough sleep.

Ahealthy diet helps ensure a woman's pregnancy and delivery smoothly. Women who eat healthfully have a lower risk of developing non-communicable diseases like diabetes and heart disease.

Essential nutrition helps to promote overall health and well-being by promoting average growth, development, aging, maintaining healthy body weight, and lowering the risk of chronic disease.

Malnutrition threatens human health. There is a worldwide rise in the prevalence of malnutrition and obesity, especially in countries with low and middle incomes. Having adequate nutrition boosts productivity and opens up opportunities to break generational poverty and undernourishment.

Children with better health have a greater chance of academic success. The cycle of poverty and malnutrition can be broken by providing the proper nutrition.
